Bernard Génin

Bernard Génin first worked as an art teacher, then as a graphic artist for advertising and animated films. In 1979 he became a journalist for the Cinema department of Telerama, a famous French weekly dedicated to cinema, radio and television. He wrote film reviews and interviewed many filmakers, specialising in animation (Paul Grimault, Tim Burton, Hayao Miyazaki etc.).

Until 2004, he taught history of animation at the Supinfograph department of ESRA (French school for filmakers) and is now member of the editorial board of Positif. Author of two books : Le Cinéma d’animation, Editions « Cahiers du cinéma » (2004) and, with Pierre Courtet-Cohl : Emile Cohl, the inventor of animated films, Editions Omniscience. The jury member of ANIMA.PL competiton.
