She studied filmmaking in Mexico City. Her short film “Of this World” was considered the best Mexican short of 2011 by the Mexican Chamber of Film Industry (CANACINE), won the best short film award at the Guanajuato International Film Festival and was screened at the “Best Mexican shorts” pavilion of the Short Film Corner 2011 (Cannes Film Festival).
Her graduation film, “400 Bags”, was selected for the Editing Studio of the Berlinale Talents 2013 and was shown in different international film festivals. The film was nominated for the best short film award by the Mexican Academy of Cinematic Arts in 2015 and was a finalist of the Student Academy Awards in the same year. “400 Bags” received the Golden Dinosaur at the Etiuda&Anima Film Festival 2015.
Fernanda is currently developing her first feature film as a director, “Non Distinguishing Features”, written with a grant from the Mexican Fund for the Arts.
