The latest film by Bodo Kox, the director of the “Girl from the Closet” (2012), is a futuristic love story set in Warsaw. This stylish and visually sophisticated tale of two lovers spans between the year 2030 and the Stalinist period of the 1950s. Adam is an owner of an old radio that enables travelling in time. During one of such travels, Adam moves back to 1952. When he realizes that he cannot return, Goria sets out to rescue him. “The Man with the Magic Box” is a Polish variation on the themes of “Brazil” by Terry Gilliam and “Blade Runner” by Ridley Scott.
The roles of the lovers from the future were played by Olga Bołądź and Piotr Polak. The cast included, among others, Agata Buzek, Sebastian Stankiewicz, Helena Norowicz and Arkadiusz Jakubik. “The Man with the Magic Box” was awarded with the Golden Lions for the best music, composed by Sandro Di Stefano, at the 42. Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.
